Mercy Church: Shedding God's light on others through outreach programs

Teaching its members that all people have the power to positively change the lives of those around them, Mercy Church makes sure that it provides churchgoers with many opportunities to help others. The religious institution offers people the chance to participate in different outreach programs so that they can discover not only how blessed they are but also how joyful it is to provide hope in other people’s lives.

The following are the outreach programs that the church organizes for the less fortunate:

Adopt-a-Block. Adopt-a-Block allows families to open their homes to the homeless. Sharing their food, beds, and clothes, families can realize that their blessings are given to them so that they can learn how to give.

Food Bank. In cooperation with Feeding America, Mercy Church feeds the hungry through the Food Bank that is open every second Tuesday of every month.

The Wardrobe. Realizing that clothing is one of the most necessary things in life, the church calls its members to donate their second-hand clothes and shoes so that ill-fated families will at least have something to warm them up during the cold nights.

By letting people partake in these programs, Mercy Church hopes that they will realize that each smile, each “thank you,” and each hug are signs that if God is present in their hearts, life will be ultimately sweeter.
